Run Your Service Business from ChatGPT
Add Service Storm as a custom connector and ChatGPT can look up a customer, check the schedule, price a job, or draft the quote — against live records, with your permissions and a full audit trail.

ChatGPT supports custom MCP connectors, and Service Storm runs a hosted MCP server — so you can bring your field service business into the assistant you already use. Setup takes a few minutes and one settings toggle, and you choose exactly how much access to grant.
The short version
Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT, create a custom connection using the MCP URL and connection name shown in Service Storm's setup dialog, choose OAuth when prompted, then sign in and approve the company and access level. Start with read access.
What ChatGPT can do once it's connected
At the read level it can answer questions about your actual operation instead of generic advice about running one:
- "Show me five recent jobs and their status."
- "What's booked for next week, and where are the gaps?"
- "What's this customer's history and do they owe us anything?"
- "Which invoices are past due, and by how long?"
- "What did we quote for a job like this last season?"
The drafts level adds draft quotes from your templates, draft quote edits, tasks, and project notes. The top level — "Run your business" on the consent screen — gives ChatGPT the same tool surface as Otto, gated by the same per-tool permission rules.
How to connect ChatGPT
- In Service Storm, select the company you want to connect, open Integrations → AI connections, and choose Connect to ChatGPT. Keep that dialog open — it shows your connection name and MCP server URL with copy buttons.
- In ChatGPT, enable Developer mode under Settings → Security and login. The setup dialog links straight to it.
- Create a new connection in ChatGPT and paste in the connection name and the full MCP server URL, keeping the company-specific ending intact.
- If asked about authentication, choose OAuth. Service Storm supports automatic client registration, so there is no API key to enter.
- Sign in to Service Storm, confirm the company on the approval page, and choose your access level.
- Select the Service Storm connection in a new ChatGPT conversation and try it.
Developer mode is currently required
ChatGPT's custom connections live behind Developer mode, and availability depends on your account and workspace policy. If you're on a managed workspace and can't find the setting, your workspace administrator controls whether custom connectors are available to you. The Service Storm setup dialog gives you direct links plus manual navigation fallbacks.
Name your connections after your companies
If you run more than one company, repeat the setup with each one selected. Keep the company name in each ChatGPT connection so you can tell them apart in a conversation — switching companies inside Service Storm never moves an existing connection.
What it can't do
At no access level can a connected assistant send a message to your customer, collect a payment, or accept a quote or contract on someone's behalf. Starting, pausing, completing, and cancelling visits also stay in the Service Storm app. These aren't oversights — they're the actions where an AI mistake costs you money or a customer relationship.
Security in one paragraph
The connection uses OAuth with PKCE and dynamic client registration against an exact, validated callback — not an API key you paste into a settings box. ChatGPT receives opaque tokens stored only as hashes; access tokens last fifteen minutes and refresh tokens rotate, with replay detection that kills the whole token family if one is reused. The grant is bound to a single company and cannot outlive your approved Service Storm login session. Every request rechecks your membership and current permissions, and every tool call is audited with the user, company, tool, and outcome — never the arguments or the record contents.

Otto, Service Storm's own AI agent, does the same work from inside the app and the mobile app with nothing to install and no developer mode to enable. The ChatGPT connector is there for people who'd rather work where they already are — it isn't the only way in.
